Pete Rock (born Peter Phillips, June 21, 1970 in Bronx, New York) is an American hip hop DJ, producer and rapper, of Jamaican descent. He rose to prominence in the early '90s as one half of the critically acclaimed group Pete Rock & CL Smooth. Rock played a major role in the merging of elements from jazz into hip hop music, along with Stetsasonic, A Tribe Called Quest, The Roots and Gang Starr. Considered one of the greatest hip hop producers of all time, he is often mentioned alongside DJ Premier, and RZA, as one of the mainstays of 1990s East Coast hip hop production.

With Cartel in the mix again, this Lady Flame interview is very special because of her true musical talent. It isnt often that the female artist can ACTUALLY sing and dj and rap. Now you've HEARD some females who are 50/50 with either but technically weak in one. From her songs 'Peace' and 'Not Like It Used To Be', you can hear her vocal range. Even on the song 'Before Today' with Lil Rap, she CLEARLY belts out some notes. Small in frame but VERY bold on and off-stage, she IS outspoken and not affraid to biggup all females for the issues they have to go thru with the industry just like Lady Saw who's song is also featured here. Then the DJ side of Lady Flame is touched on as she features her newest tunes, 'Hot Walk' on the Tranquilizer and the gangsta-girl 'Nuhh Fraid Fi Squeeze' on the Artillery is tuff like the Assassin also on the riddim. Here a yard women and children are often victims of some brutal crimes some of which we hear were committed by young men. As a young youth and the only child for his mother, BRAMMA uses this opportunity to appeal to them to ease up on the slaying of women and children and be more respectful of them. He said "Dem nuh know de pain it tek fi have a baby". He even highlighted some great women such as Rosa Parks and Princess Di, powerful women of Jamaica such as Portia Simpson (Prime Minister) and Babsy Grange (Opposition MP) who came from humble beginnings. Then we revisit the Guardian Angel Riddim and start with a special tune sung by Addiss Ivory. Addis hails from Cameroon and has been singing reggae for several years in the UK and other European Countries. Kris Kelly's 'We're Missing You' will always be featured in the mix as it leads up to the exclusive new song from Jah Cure. 'To Your Arms Of Love' is a single to be released off his new VP Album in stores August 2007. This mix also contains Tessanne Chin's top single Hideaway which shows her vocal range and diversity as it flash's a little ROCK (and the video is also VERY SEXY). The featured 'Africa Riddim' is produced by Raymond Cameron, with Damion Allen as executive producer and the compilation album was released in May and is distributed by Energy Beat Records. There is soon to be a medley video featuring Gyptian, Bescenta, Natural Black, Turbulence, and others. Listen for the Norris Man and watch out for an additional video for Sizzla's Show More Love.
